Canadian music producer, who worked with Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Neko Case, Sloan and countless other artists.
Best known for his famous one-microphone recording of The Cowboy Junkies at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Toronto in 1987, pictured in the photo above.
The album, The Trinity Session, recorded on a shoestring budget sold more than 1.5 million copies in its first year.
He worked with many independent bands and filmmakers, and was the music producer/engineer/mixer for Hard Core Logo, directed by Bruce McDonald, 1996. He received a Genie Award together with his co-writers for Best Original Song.
In Hard Core Logo 2 I had the rare pleasure of acting alongside him- he hilariously sent himself up playing Bucky Haight’s put-upon producer Simon Less.
