Is Pride really still needed? Yes. With hate crimes on the rise, trans people under attack from every direction and far-right ideologies taking hold globally, Pride is a time/movement/place that allows us show up en masse and remind those in power just how numerous we are and that our lives and rights must be protected. Without Pride, it’s inevitable that we would slip backwards and the advances so painfully fought for by previous generations will be lost. This is all without mentioning the personal impact on those in and out of the closet which is immeasurable. Seeing the community with your own eyes has a life changing or potentially life saving impact on so many. It was such a pleasure to be on @itcantjustbemepod with @annarichardso. The full episode is available now wherever you get your podcasts. Includes advice to an anxious 16-year-old listener afraid about coming out to her parents

An international shortage of ADHD medications has left countless people struggling to cope and their once well-managed symptoms taking over. I hope these tips help you as they’ve helped me. More tips which may alleviate some of your symptoms without medication are listed below. All advice mentioned is either backed by scientific research or from my personal anecdotal experience where an improvement in symptoms was noticed. Thank you to my family at @bbcmorninglive for giving me the platform to share my experience and advice whilst hopefully tackling some of the stigma that comes with this condition. Remember, you’re not disordered, just differently ordered and that’s a beautiful thing. Now, let’s get you to a place where the benefits of your difference can shine to their fullest 🧠 ❤️ Pets – Studies (including ADHD-specific research) has shown that time spent bonding with/stroking a pet can reduce symptoms of ADHD, and more generally, reduce anxiety. If you don’t own a pet, perhaps offer to petsit for a friend who does. Clocks – I place several small digital clocks around my home so that quick time checks are possible and therefore helping with time blindness. Meditation – Meditation helps to quieten the sometimes chaotic ADHD brain allowing for better focus, reduced anxiety and clearer prioritisation of tasks. Gamification – For particularly unstimulating tasks, it helps to add a sense of play or urgency. Before starting the task, give yourself a time limit which doesn’t allow for procrastination. If you manage to complete the task in the allotted time, reward yourself with something that excites you. It could be your favourite kind of food, an episode of a show you love or even a nap! Lists – Writing a physical list of tasks that need to be completed on a particular day will allow you to visualise them, place them in order of priority and feel a sense of reward and contentment each time you complete one and cross it off the list. I find this helps prevent task hopping before completion. #adhd

ad Whenever you visit my place you’ll now be cornered until agreeing to watch my coffee machine work its magic. I’m a very proud mama! The @siemenshomeuk EQ900 is so packed with intelligent tech that it’s only short of doing my tax return. It’s able to pour two bevs at the same time, upload new types of coffee from around the world and make them there and then, connect to the dedicated app to get brewing in the morn before your head rises off the pillow, tells you when and how to clean it (very easy indeed) and so much more. Anyone for an oat latte? @futureselfcoffee @alfiedeyes #EQ900 #EQcoffee #siemensintelligentkitchen

At the premiere for FOE earlier this week and what a joy it is to see two Irish acting powerhouses on the big screen! Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal take us on dystopian journey to the near future where artificial human life takes the place of what’s real. So many moral and ethical questions set against a bleak yet beautifully shot backdrop. AND a couple of big twists. It’s in cinemas on Oct 20th and then on @primevideouk soon after #foe wearing @npalmerstudio styling @jamesyardley assistant stylist @ollielast photo cred @gettyentertainment / Jeff Spicer & Joe Maher

*deep breath* This moment, and many others like, it play on my mind daily. I wrote about the reality of living with ADHD in a world that lacks empathy and understanding in the @sundaytimesireland & @thetimes today. It’s pretty scary to be this open on such a big platform, but it needs saying. This condition can be debilitating, devastating, and sometimes, delightful. If you have ADHD or know somebody who has (you do), then please have a read of the full piece. It might just give you some clarity or a sense of belonging. You’re not alone and your difference can be a brilliance once you learn how to tame it and protect yourself 💛 #adhd #adhdawarenessmonth
They didn’t say gardening could be this heartbreaking! Four months of tender loving care and these are the “carrots” I’m rewarded with. Tiny they may be but mighty they were in flavour! Taking it as a learning moment from year one of balcony crop. The take away.. Less nitrogen and plant them BEFORE the summer heat starts. See slide three for a comparison of a regular carrot compared to my smallest runt. I still love you little fella 😅🥕
