They are often considered so, maybe because the average woman lives them more deeply and more explicitly than the average man, but of course that certainly does not mean they are limited to women.
Two things are beyond doubt. Firstly, these are exactly the qualities we need to act effectively on the climate crisis and secondly, they are sorely missing from much of the current political sphere today, where of course the overwhelming number of positions of power are still held by men.
According to @unwomen, only 26.5% of politicians in single or lower houses of national parliaments are women, and only 28 women serve as Heads of State and/or Government (as of September 2023). At the current rate, gender equality in the highest positions of power will not be reached for another 130 years.
This is why I was more than happy to contribute to ‘Leading Our Way, How Women Are Re-defining Leadership’, a new book by @gaiavanderesch Alongside luminaries Gitanjali Rao, Becky Sauerbrunn, Diane von Furstenberg, Tawakkol Karman, Comfort Ero and Gloria Steinem, I talked about my own experience in leadership and how we can reshape the future through the lessons we have learned.
