And it feels as though, it should not fall on women—who may be struggling—to condemn sexual violence against women. I have fought so hard to bring violence against women and girls out of the shadows and have had to break myself open to do so. I did this with so much hope for what is possible. I feel as though everyone should know that I condemn all rape and all violence against women. Why do I need to post it on social media for you to know it? And why do I have to post it in your time frame? Please, I beg of you, please be gentle. I see you. I understand the fear of erasure. I see the fear of generational trauma. I understand. Now I ask you to please understand that I am fighting my own battles. I CONDEMN ALL VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. I CONDEMN HAMMAS AND RAPE AND RAPE AS WARFARE. I CONDEMN ANTISEMITISM AND ISLAMOPHOBIA.
