Dawn McCoy Instagram – Today may be my birthday, but last Saturday, my dear Dallas girls celebrated me with the most love-filled evening at Green Point.🎂🩵🩷 We all attended and graduated from Episcopal School of Dallas and I looked up to every single one of these girls in high school (they were all 1 or 2 grades above me and just the COOLEST) – and I STILL look up to them today. But I also have seen them stand next to me and WITH me through the impossible. All mamas, our friendships were made even stronger when the unfathomable happened to my sweet baby. They have never made me feel like the dark is too dark… They have reminded me again and again of my light. And they have helped carry me. And when I come to Dallas – I feel like the pink carpet is being rolled out every single time. They surround you in a big hug of love. That’s just who they are. As they brought out the 2 beautiful birthday cakes – including a Loving Way custom-designed cake – my theme song spontaneously came on… Matthew Wilder’s “Break My Stride” (think 80s roller-skating date)… And it made me cry!! (The moment was captured right in this first photo) Here I was, surrounded so much LOVE – bathed in it – and on comes this magical song that has been such a heartbeat throughout my life. Nothing is accidental to me. The magical things… The good things… The terrible things… There seems to be a purpose to it all right now…even when I struggle to understand it. But something as simple as being surrounded by precious friends as my theme song plays while my birthday cakes are coming out? To me, that’s a much bigger sign than even a birthday can hold.
