Walks and nature and books (that is probably my last fiction read of the year and tons of fun) and travels and old buildings and the friends and family that live just beyond the camera’s lens. Kristin Kreuk Instagram - Okay. I am gifted a fair number of books at conventions. Which I LOVE. Particularly when they are slim and easy to pack into my tiny convention suitcase. (The hefty ones are much more difficult to cart home) So. I thought it may be nice to do a periodic fan-gifted book post. This one was given to me at Fan Expo Philly (I forget who gave it to me—sorry!!). “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry” by Gabrielle Zeven (who also wrote “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow”) is a sweet, affirming and bookish book about a widowed bookshop owner who is healing from the loss of his wife. It is uncomplicated and gentle and filled with book references for my fellow book nerds. It explores community, friendship, parenthood, romantic love, and books, and how those things can nurture and mend us in our darkest of times. It is a slim and quick read that will warm your heart. (You may want skip this if you want to avoid stories that involve suicide, loss of loved ones, and cancer) I don’t know how often I’ll get to these, but I’ll try to get to as many of the books I have been able to squirrel home.

This was given to me by Virginie in either Dortmund or Telford this past spring. This sweet little novel (that you can probs finish in a single sitting) is about a man who finds a woman’s purse on a Parisian street and, after reading her notebook, becomes a wee bit obsessed. I mean. That sounds creepy. However, it manages to be a sweet little love story. And if you are craving a Parisian setting, this may tickle your fancy. Thank you, Virginie!
