In the past year, more half a million infants have been k*lled in conflicts across the world. That’s an average of more than 100,000 d*aths annually – or 300 babies every day. The d*ath toll does not include children k*lled directly by fighting. Instead, it estimates the number of infants and young children who may have d*ed from the knock-on effects of nearby conflict, such as starvation, outbreaks of disease, damage to hospitals, or delays to aid deliveries. Child d*aths rose to 870,000 when all children under the age of five were included. 420 million children are living in a conflict zone (nearly a fifth of the global population of children).
