Women are essential in the development of a boys life. Women are essential in the development of a girls life. Mothers play a gigantic role in the development of their child’s life.
With all of that being said, Fathers play an essential role as well. Specifically, with a son, he plays the role of the boundary keeper. That’s why most moms, the biggest threat that they can offer to their son is, “wait until your father gets home.” And it’s not simply the threat of violence. It is the threat of nonnegotiable, immovable, loving but firm, accountability. That boy knows that there is no getting around the accountability of his father. This is called HEALTHY fear! And this healthy fear of having to face that kind of consistent accountability that says, “I love you enough to hug you, build you and shake you up if necessary,
