Eka Darville Instagram – This book and all the work by @dr.joydegruy has point blank changed my life. She was the first person to articulate an experience that every black person I’ve ever met knows in their bones. It’s a pain that isn’t ours but lives inside of us. It’s a rage that’s so powerful we dare not share it for fear of it devouring us.
My life growing up was beautiful and privileged. Yes I have my stories and wounds around race, we all do. But nothing that could ever explain what I felt in my gut. This books was the first time someone could explain to me what that feeling was and where it came from. Thank you @dr.joydegruy 🙏🏾✊🏿 To my white friends and fans: If you are choosing to do the important work of unpacking you’re own implicit bias and trying to understand your blind spots this book is mandatory reading. If you don’t read Dr. Joy has a number of great lectures and podcasts available on YouTube and wherever you get you’re podcasts.
