Jim Baird Instagram – (Full vid. linked in bio.) Morning at camp on Day 3 was a little more interesting than usual with something hanging out in the woods near by. After loading the canoe while our son Hudson belted out the toddler anthem Jonny Jonny, we continued our journey down the mighty Stikine River towards Alaska. We were looking to make up for lost time but heavy rain and wind slowed us down. We had to again make a sturdy tarp rig at camp to escape the downpour that evening. In the shelter of the tarp that night, my wife @torigoesoutside cooked up a the best camping meal ever which really hit the spot. Watch the full video through the link in my bio.

Jim Baird Instagram – There’s something so primal about canoe tripping. You’re only focus is food, shelter, water, warmth and getting yourself from point A to B. No phones, no internet, no “modern world” distractions. It really forces you to be in the moment and gives you a greater respect for Mother Nature, because she’s in charge.

Canoe tripping is challenging, fulfilling, unpredictable, serene, scary and beautiful. It builds muscle, resilience and character. It encourages connection and disconnection.

Some people think we’re crazy for taking our kids on trips like this (myself included sometimes), while others think it’s inspiring. Either way, these experiences will create lasting memories for each of us.
