Jim Baird Instagram – There’s something so primal about canoe tripping. You’re only focus is food, shelter, water, warmth and getting yourself from point A to B. No phones, no internet, no “modern world” distractions. It really forces you to be in the moment and gives you a greater respect for Mother Nature, because she’s in charge.

Canoe tripping is challenging, fulfilling, unpredictable, serene, scary and beautiful. It builds muscle, resilience and character. It encourages connection and disconnection.

Some people think we’re crazy for taking our kids on trips like this (myself included sometimes), while others think it’s inspiring. Either way, these experiences will create lasting memories for each of us.

Jim Baird Instagram – Well I got my hunting licence and PAL last year so I suppose it’s only fitting that Santa brought me my first gun. Santa swears it wasn’t really just a gift for him. 😉

Jim and I went out for a little skeet shooting a few days after Christmas and threw about 100 skeet’s. After quite a few misses I found my groove and was hitting them fairly consistently which I felt good about for my first time out. My arm was sore the next day but I’m looking forward to getting in some good target practise so I can start helping to fill the freezer.
