Like Fall Guys, but real life, and you don’t bounce if you fall. And you pay to do it. And you hurt for days after. And you run for way more than a couple of minutes. And there’s no bright colours, it’s all just grass and mud. So it’s nothing like Fall Guys really.

I’ve been nervous about this for months – two surgeries later and I’m negotiating this event with a body that needs to do more than just train to run for a bit… There were obstacles I was on doctor’s orders NOT to attempt (and I didn’t, dw) But I conquered it. All 15k. And when I had to miss out an obstacle (like the two that electrocute you) I made sure I pelted it to the next one, just so no one could say I had an easy day of it 😜. We all crossed the finish line together, caked in mud, water, sheep shit, blood and sweat. And dya know what? I had a belting time. I have crap upper body strength so fell off every single set of monkey bars I crossed paths with (into the most horrible ‘water’), but I did do two obstacles that triggered my claustrophobia so I’d say I redeemed myself…

Matt, Will, Andy and of course Dan, who I absolutely not in a million years could have done this without, right from training to pulling me up the last few feet of that wall as I dangled from his arms. (And there’s evidence within these photos that he had rather a nice time assisting me too, I guess… 😜)
