People have been asking how I’m running for office while pregnant and my thought is— working women do it every day!
And what I can say is this— this pregnancy has reinforced to me how important it is to prioritize taking care of our new families through family leave, child care.
Child care costs in CA are among the most expensive in the nation, sometimes more costly than college, and too often become a reason that one parent won’t go back to work.
I support providing incentives to businesses ie tax credits to provide workers with child care and other services including mental health support.
I also would make sure we address disparities in maternal healthcare —ie Black women have 3x the maternal death rate in this country. That’s not okay.
When we support mothers and babies and help provide a solid foundation, we create a better future for children, and it’s better for our economy overall!
