Did you know…🤔when we eat things like starchy carbs (like mashed potatoes🥔) or sweets (like pie🥧), our body breaks down into glucose.
When we get too much glucose, too fast, our body can’t utilize all of that energy, so it signals the release of insulin, which clears the blood of the glucose by storing it as fat, usually around our midsection.
Our blood sugar level then crashes, which signals our body that we are hungry again. It’s a glucose rollercoaster🎢 that keeps our blood sugar spiking 📈and crashing as our waistlines keep growing.📏
How do we get to enjoy those holiday meals, but NOT put on those typical FIVE EXTRA Holiday pounds?😅
SIMPLE. Eat it all in the right ORDER.
Fiber is our friend… 🥦It creates a mesh in the intestines that slows down the way that the sugar hits the bloodstream making it far less likely to be stored as fat, AND it keeps that glucose rollercoaster🎢 more steady. And this is what we want – we want to flatten those glucose spikes.📈
This will keep us satiated for longer, it will keep our waistlines from expanding, and we still get to enjoy our favorite Holiday foods.🥰
The order in which you eat your Holiday meal MATTERS!
FIRST, START WITH FIBER!🥦
Here’s the order in which you should eat your Holiday meal:⬇️
1️⃣ Eat all the veggies🥦
2️⃣ Eat protein and healthy fats (like gravy and butter)🍗
3️⃣ Eat starchy carbs (stuffing, potatos, bread rolls, and sweet potatoes🍠)
4️⃣ Eat fruit (like cranberries)
5️⃣ Eat dessert (like pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and cheesecake🥧)
✨The order in which you eat your holiday meal makes a difference in how stable your blood glucose level is. It levels out that glucose rollercoaster🎢, so you are less likely to come back for 2nds.
