We are up for Best Indie Film in the coolest category around. This was certainly an indie labour of love, and secretly I feel that this nomination is for all the portaloos I moved with @sayurickawamura and @catherinefarm whilst 8 weeks pregnant, and for all the meals our co-producer David Kelly cooked in between running back to his room to do the payroll, and all the second and third and sometimes fourth jobs @mahveenjoon had to take to work on this for the past few years she has been producing it with me.
The dashing @phoenixraei is nominated for Best Lead Actor in Film, and he is sublime. A gentle, vulnerable, generous performance that is the beating heart of the film. He is a star.
Hugo Weaving is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Film for one of the wildest and most magical performances of his that I’ve ever seen. It was as mesmerising to watch up close on set as it is in this final cut.
And @ellenstanistreet is nominated for Best Costume Design in Film. Ellen created a lived-in, textured and completely believable ensemble for all of our characters all by herself with about $3 and her wits. She is so talented and brave. You want her on your team.
