Sharna Burgess Instagram – This weeks episode was a really interesting conversation about how social media and media over the years has influenced beauty standards and I ultimately (for many of us) our self worth. We talk about the use of filters, we talk about beauty trends that have teenagers getting fillers or surgeries, I talk about what I’ve done and the effects I’ve felt over the years of this pressure to fit the unattainable beauty standards. I have to admit it’s a hard conversation because I would never ever want to shame someone for doing something that made them feel more confidence yet at the same time I do believe that isn’t where real confidence comes from. And look, I’m in the conversation and by IN it I mean I do all sorts of things. Lasers, threads, Botox filler over the years and then dissolved only to do a little more again. So I am not approaching this in a way of being above it or outside looking in… I’m in it. I feel it too. This pressure to stay young, “bounce back” .. as a woman .. it’s a hell of a lot.
