Opposites attract. And in dating, it’s helpful to become clear on your leading energy so that you can attract an opposite and create polarity with your partner (the spark).
While we often think of men as masculine and women as feminine, both energies exist within us and are divorced from our construct of gender.
So while masculine energy is typically associated with men, we actually balance masculine and feminine energy throughout our day.
In Chinese philosophy, these forces are called Yin and Yang. Yin traits include creativity, intuition and stillness whereas Yang traits are assertiveness, dominance and action.
Like day-night, inhale-exhale and north-south, Yin cannot exist with the Yang.
In a relationship context, I’ve found it incredibly helpful to balance energies with my partner. For example, if she has come home from work in her Yang, I’ll meet her with softness and embody Yin to create harmony. In the bedroom, it sparks passion when both parties embrace their opposing energies.
