You’ve probably heard the expression, “Never meet your heroes.” The implication is that they can never live up to your expectations. That is, unless one of your heroes is @official_dick_van_dyke, who EXCEEDS expectations! I’ll always be indebted to the late Carl Reiner (another hero, btw) for introducing me to him. To be able to share laughs with someone who has made you & the world laugh for decades is another great gift of my career. On 12/13 he celebrates 98 trips around the sun (and a few trips over an ottoman 😏) Happy Birthday, my friend. 🎉🎂

I always loved the Smothers Brothers. While his brother Dick (the one who “Mom always liked best”) was an occasional visitor to the dance show audience, it took a trip outside San Francisco to spend quality time with Tom. I interviewed him in 2009 for @goodmorningamerica. #RIP 😔
