A história da igreja de Cristo é inseparável da história das tentativas de Satanás de destruí-la. Enquanto desafios difíceis surgiram de fora da igreja, os mais perigosos sempre foram os que surgiram de dentro. Pois, de dentro surgem os falsos mestres, os mercadores do erro que se disfarçam como mestres da verdade. Falsos mestres assumem muitas formas, adaptadas aos tempos, culturas e contextos.
