Bleached Canvas – it was exactly that after Caraman, the Haute Couture show following the passing of Hubert de Givenchy.
It was about exploring everything from scratch again. Looking at a bleached canvas of white, hence the stark, austere pure white space of the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
The saturation of primary colours, sharp, graphic silhouettes, exquisite three dimensional craftsmanship in lace and tubular fringes and textures contrasted by the liquid glossiness of latex, reflecting a favourite fabric from my first Couture show.
The stunning Adut opened the show in a sexy tuxedo of Japanese minimalist mohair wool, with a cotton pique lapel and second skin latex legs, she looked breathtaking against the sheer luminous white backdrop of the salon. 🖤
A painterly palette of Couture gowns, monochromatic masculinity and sharp metallic glimmer. It reflected the freshness I wanted to create for the new era of Haute Couture at Maison Givenchy. 🖤🖤🖤

Bringing the final ethereal moments of fluidity that closed this very poignant show in memory of Hubert and his incredible legacy.
As the last look left backstage, she felt like a single figure of quiet reflection in her Jet black velvet hooded Robe de Soir, echoing one of the most iconic dresses of the 20th century.
As she went out, the beautiful sound of an acoustic Audrey Hepburn singing Moon river followed her around the 300mt walk over the mirrored runway, the silence fell on the audience and we, my team and the haute couture atelier were all in tears backstage.

There has been one question that has always been asked about Hubert de Givenchy – What was his signature style and work?
What is his legacy?
I believe that was my journey from the beginning. To help open up the narrative particularly through Haute Couture. He always talked about Couture as the true spiritual home of his work.
Taught by the formidable Balenciaga he understood and used sharp shape and silhouette effortlessly. He made fabric envelope structures that brought dramatic cinematic effects. His style influenced Hollywood and the red carpet as we know it today. He was the pioneer to work directly with actors.
