Faith Elizabeth Instagram – They LIED when they said the first day back would be the hardest. 👀
The first day back is a day of slowly easing yourself in. You go into it tentatively, unsure of what’s ahead.
It’s the second day that STINGS. 😩
Realising how far back you’ve fallen, accepting physically and mentally what still lies ahead.
Last year, while I was Mermaid training, I was learning how to equalise for the first time.
And I fucked up.
I didn’t perforate my eardrum, but I did something.
It hurt like hell for months, even putting my head underwater in the bath was painful.
A Mermaid who can’t swim? 😧
Forced to put my training on hold, I was so anxious what this might mean for the movie- if I wasn’t able to swim underwater (kinda an important thing for a Mermaid 😂) then how could we go ahead….
Finally, I was prescribed some steroids. It cleared up the pain.
But I was still very anxious to return.
Last week I had my first swim. I went very gently, just testing my ear. All seemed to be okay. Did a few slow lengths and swiftly bolted it. 😅
Jumping in the water today, it was time to test where I’m really at.
I can feel such a drop in my fitness, also realising I need to readjust my body to opening my eyes underwater, and strengthening the technique to hold my nose again too (neither come naturally to me).
It was a shock.
But my ear was okay 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I am thankful that my Mermaid Movie dreams aren’t over. 😆
I may have taken a few strokes back- but now I am feeling reenergised, remotivated and ready to jump back in. 💦 🎥🧜♀️
