Missy Franklin Instagram – Just a magical weekend with my girl. I think truly some of the most special time I’ve had with her since she was born. Hayes was out of town AND as you all know we got totally snowed in, and it lead to some of the most precious quality time I could have asked for with my best friend. This age is truly magical. I genuinely look forward to waking up everyday wondering what she is going to say or do next. She’s excited about anything and everything, and brings infinite meaning to our lives.
Missy Franklin Instagram – This weeks #womancrushwednesday #wcw is the incredible @missyfranklin88 👑 Missy is a 6x Olympic medalist (5x gold) and 11x World Champion swimmer. She earned most of her gold medals at the 2012 London Olympics. I watched her win them all from the couch with big eyes and an inspired heart. Her Olympic career began at 13 years old at the 2008 Beijing trials. To put that into perspective, I was 12 when I watched her compete at the Olympics for the first time 🤯. At only 17, she became the winningest female swimmer at the 2012 Olympics. One can only imagine the immense pressure that comes with that, but Missy carries it well. She has used her platform for good as an advocate for mental health through the USA Swimming Foundation and their Saving Lives is Always in Season campaign. She is a warrior, and a champion in every sense of the word. Though her swimming accolades are incredibly impressive, I was most impressed by her temperament and her sincere love of her family. Missy has a heart of gold (pun intended), she radiates kindness. Upon meeting her she welcomed both myself and my mom into her home and wanted us to meet her awesome husband @thayesjohnson, their beautiful baby Cait and her mom. The light that radiates from her heart as she discusses them all is so pure. She creates such a welcoming and loving space around her, even for a stranger. She leads with love, and like her co-host of @unfilteredwaterspodcast @kthoff7 she is a hero of mine who did not disappoint. I admire them both even more now! Missy advises us to trust ourselves. As a young athlete she was pushed to limits, and while she had immense success, in retrospect she realizes that she always knew best. For her mind, her body and her heart. Her woman crush Wednesday is her sweet mama, and from what I saw both Missy and her mom are women I aspire to be. Cait is one lucky little girl, and Missy you are doing an incredible job molding her into the strong woman she will become. Missy, you’re amazing.
