Sophia Bush Instagram – If the stats in my last post upset you, you’re not alone. The suffering inflicted on women & pregnant people in this country is by design, courtesy of the radical right. And the former president who hand-picked three Supreme Court Justices with the specific intent to overturn Roe v. Wade. He says he’s proud of it. While women risk death. Suffer sepsis. Are forced to carry non-viable pregnancies that risk their lives. While they are forced to carry pregnancies from rape. We’ve heard the stories of mothers who’ve nearly died, women who’ve been turned away from hospitals in states with care bans, sent home to miscarry in their toilets instead of in a doctor’s office. There are too many to count at this point. It is unacceptable & it requires us to fight back. I am grateful that we have an Administration that won’t give up on us, or this crisis. I’m grateful that our Vice President carves out specific time — while juggling so many pressing issues here at home & abroad — to standing up for the women in this country who need care. This is an issue that requires our dedication and focus. Make no mistake, the suffering & subjugation of women & girls here & around the world is all connected. Extremists & right wing politicians ALL come for the rights of women. It’s an authoritarian tactic that’s been well documented. It’s up to us to see the connections and fight back. From the over 65,000 women in this country who haven’t been able to access abortion after rape since Dobbs was overturned, to the documented sexual violence that women in Congo are currently suffering at the hands of terrorism, that women in Israel suffered on Oct 7th at the hands of terrorism, to the horrific suffering of women in Gaza where miscarriages have increased by an estimated 300% since Netanyahu’s bombing began. It is ALL connected. A world where fascism is increasing around the globe is a world less & less safe for women. I sincerely hope that as we will show up for each of these fights with our full selves. That we will not give up on each other. We must hold all of the dialectics. And here at home? We MUST keep showing up for reproductive freedom. #bansoffourbodies
