Chrissie Hynde Instagram - Look who I bumped into at the airport in Bilbao. Yes, it’s

Chrissie Hynde Instagram - HI all!

What a week we had. James and I got the train to Hereford to visit Martin in his barn, which he’s been converting into a billiard hall and observation deck to pursue his favourite pastime - observing the local wildlife.

We also met up with Stan Tippins ( legend) original Pretenders tour manager ( and former Mott the Hoople member ) and Lynn Honeyman Scott, Jimmy’s sister. We had a long chat about Jimmy's guitars. ( see previous recent blogs)

Unfortunately, it seems that all of the guitars, at least the ones we’ve been able to track down, are now in the hands of collectors, which is a real shame as those guitars would be happier ( as I’m sure Jimmy would be ) being played by guitar greats like Johnny Marr or James W. Johnny, in case you couldn’t tell by his playing, was hugely influenced by Jimmy. In fact Johnny and I have been hanging out quite a lot lately and reminiscing about the time we spent together when he was in the Pretenders.

I include a few pictures of Jimmy’s grave stone. It made me so happy to see that guitar players have visited it recently and left their plectrums/ picks on it.

If I could track down the guitar featured on the stone, I’d buy it back and give it to Johnny Marr, but the price might be prohibitive if it’s the hands of one of those (evil) collectors. Guitars should be played. (That’s what mine seems to say every time I walk past it while it’s collecting dust. Shame on me).

All the best to everyone out there reading this, and thanks for your enthusiastic response to our announcement of upcoming dates.

And how cool is it to be supporting the Mighty Guns N’ Roses at Hyde Park!

See you there!

Chrissie Hynde Instagram - Hi All!

It was great to get back on tour. We love the road!

I saw Taylor Swift ( you may have heard of her ) in concert the other day. Just shows you what a girl with a guitar can do. Last time I loved a show that much was Aldous Harding. You remember me raving about it.

So, if you haven’t already - go out there and get yourselves a guitar. You’ll never be alone again as long as you have it by your side.

See y’all soon!

Chrissie Hynde Instagram - Hi everyone that came to our recent shows in the UK.
We all thought it was the most fun tour we’ve done. Fantastic venues. Perfect really. I could see everyone, and not one person shouted out for a ‘greatest hit’.
To be honest It was a big money loser because we were staying in decent hotels, had monitors and front of house sound, and we took trains. You see, playing to 200 people at £30 a head isn’t possible unless we hump are own gear, travel in the van, and stay in dives. Therefore for our next tour we’ll probably have to increase the capacity to about 1000 people to break even. We did this tour just so we could have an absolute ball which we did. Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming up to see us! Great towns - great audiences - great fun.
Exactly what a rock ‘n’ roll gig supposed to be.

We played THE RESCUE ROOMS last night and it was everything a band can ask for.
Clubs are best for rock bands, always were and still are. Clubs like THE RESCUE ROOMS (and next door’s ROCK CITY) reaffirm everything we love about what we do and why we do it.

Chrissie Hynde Instagram - Hi All!

Suffering here being off the road. Going to try to map out some touring for next year soon.
 More UK and Europe.

We’ve spent most of our touring life in the States…. never even been to Poland! It’s been years since we’ve been to France and Spain and Germany and Italy and Scandinavia, Holland. Belgium.
I ❤️ Belgium. One of the reasons we got in a band was to see the world. Stick to the plan!

And we have a new album coming out, Relentless. For some reason which I don’t quite understand, it takes ages to get an album out these days, ie: waiting for vinyl factories. I’m not even sure if we have a record deal. I’ll have to ask my management if I remember.
But no point waiting around for a new record before we hit the road.

As I explained in my last post, we’re going to have to go into bigger venues or else it’s straight to the poor house. As long as we break even I’ll be happy. I’ve never liked arenas and I loathe stadiums as I’ve said many times. Stadiums are for sports.
2000 capacity is Optimus!
I’m not sure if Optimus is a word but you get my drift.

Here’s the view from my hotel room in Leeds. As I frantically try to remember basic three chord songs, I recall the old adage:

Bear with me girls! I was lost but now I’m found… almost.

We played THE RESCUE ROOMS last night and it was everything a band can ask for.
Clubs are best for rock bands, always were and still are. Clubs like THE RESCUE ROOMS (and next door’s ROCK CITY) reaffirm everything we love about what we do and why we do it.
This is home for us.

We play Belfast tonight which will conclude our Irish tour. The clubs have been great. The Olympia theatre in Dublin is the perfect venue. Have really enjoyed our time in Ireland. Playing the small venues is great. We can see everyone.
Thanks to everyone for coming to the shows.
