Jesse Jackson Instagram – I was the first American presidential candidate to raise the issue of Palestinian human rights. I said it then and I say it now. Our histories from South Africa to Palestine, to right here in the United States of America, are inextricably combined. Commemorating Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King on his work and legacy to support peace and justice for all, I think about Palestine and the rights of Palestinian people. With Dr. James Zogby, a dear friend of mine and director of the Arab American Institute, stood in 1988, 40 years ago advocating for peace and justice. As I said in Lebanon in 1979, we do not seek to exchange sufferers, rather to stop suffering. This is what I am still fighting for in 2024, with a rainbow coalition of Palestinian, Jewish, Arab, Muslim and Black conveners at our emergency summit for Gaza calling for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
