I was the first American presidential candidate to raise the issue of Palestinian human rights. I said it then and I say it now. Our histories from South Africa to Palestine, to right here in the United States of America, are inextricably combined. Commemorating Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King on his work and legacy to support peace and justice for all, I think about Palestine and the rights of Palestinian people. With Dr. James Zogby, a dear friend of mine and director of the Arab American Institute, stood in 1988, 40 years ago advocating for peace and justice. As I said in Lebanon in 1979, we do not seek to exchange sufferers, rather to stop suffering. This is what I am still fighting for in 2024, with a rainbow coalition of Palestinian, Jewish, Arab, Muslim and Black conveners at our emergency summit for Gaza calling for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. #ceasfirenow #ceasfire #KeepHopeAlive #IamSomebody #Love #Peace #SummitForGaza 📸: Embrace with Yassar Arafat in Beirut, Lebanon, 1979 ( AP) 📸:With Rabbi Robert J. “The Little Warrior,” as we knew her, for her small stature and strong will, Rev. Barrow advocated for racial equality, women’s rights, educational access, and labor rights. An organizer and leader, she co-founded Operation Breadbasket in Chicago — the precursor to Operation PUSH, where Rev. Barrow later served as the first woman executive director — and chaired the board of the RainbowPUSH Coalition for ten years. #KeepHopeAlive #IamSomebody #WomensHistoryMonth #WHM #WHM24 #leadership

Yesterday, the Chicago city council voted on a ceasefire resolution. Our founder, the Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson, Sr., along with other organizations and grassroots organizers, sent this letter in support of the peace, to all alders in the city of Chicago and the mayor. In a 23-23 vote with Mayor Johnson’s tiebreaker, we’re now the largest U.S. city to endorse a Gaza Ceasefire. We must continue our work towards peace and common ground. #iamsomebody #keephopealive #buildingpeace #savinglives #savethechildrenofGaza
Today we find ourselves in the midst of a storm. When I heard the news of the passing of Dexter Scott King today, my heart ached. My wife,Jackie and the entire Jackson family extend our prayers and condolences to his cherished wife,Leah, to his beloved siblings, Martin III, Bernice and the King family. My heart also aches in memory of his parents, Dr. King and Mrs. King, who thoughtfully and with intention named him after Dexter Baptist church where Dr. King First served as pastor. Dexter, followed in the footsteps of his father, attending Morehouse College and becoming Chairman,CEO and President of the King Center, exhibiting as his father dreamed, the content of his character. Dexter will live as long as we remember him. May he rest in heavenly peace. #DexterScottKing #Ihaveadream #StrengthtoLove #mlk #IamSomebody #keephopealive #legacy 🕊️🙏🏽
