John Daub Instagram – Hidden Gems in Japan to visit: The Old Japan feel many tourists look for is everywhere around the countryside, you have to get off the beaten path. MURAKAMI, NIIGATA (map at the end) has a street lined with Edo period buildings, they specialized in local salmon. It’s a close walk from Murakami Station to “Sennen Salmon Kikkawa“ where you can walk in and see a ton of fresh caught hanging salmon! Across the street is a 100 year old Japanese sweets shop! And many sake breweries! The food is incredible. Murakami is on the way to Yamagata – near Yonezawa and Ginzan Onsen, but you won’t find many tourists here which is a gem 💎 tourist office at the train station has a ton of info in English.
