Anegundi is a small village located in the Kopal district of Karnataka and the women here are the true change-makers ๐Ÿ™Œ

Did you know itโ€™s older than Hampi itself and was once called Kishkindha from the Ramayana tales?

The story goes way back to 1998 when @shama_pawar maโ€™am, the founder of @kishkindatrust, launched a sustainable project to use up the banana bio waste and water hyacinth into beautiful items. This initiative started with JUST 3 women initially, but the project slowly became a success and empowered hundreds of women of Anegundi to join hands in saving the environment while earning a livelihood for their home.

โ€œBut why banana and water hyacinth only?โ€ you may askโ€ฆ

Well apart from being abundant plants in the nature, the fibre extracted from these plants is not only SUPER strong and recyclable but also naturally water, fire and tear resistant!! Thatโ€™s why many other initiatives are using these as alternatives to make paper, fabric and so many other items โœ…

So SHARE this video to raise awareness and inspire action among othersโœจ

Also, leave a โ€œ๐Ÿฆˆโ€ in the comments if you think this is an initiative that deserves the sharksโ€™ attention!!
