Yesterday she turned 18 years old! This is a day late because we were having fun in LA. The place we lived for so long, when I learned how to be a mommy. Wylie, you made me a mom and opened my eyes and heart to the most amazing part of my life. Together we have grown, we have cried, we have moved, and learned and loved and blossomed. We have been together through it all… and now the hardest part of parenting is letting you go and hoping your babies know you will always still be right there. You are exactly what I dreamed of when 20 year old me was told I was having a little baby girl. Wylie, you are so incredibly strong and unique and your heart is so big. You are unapologetically you, and you always have been. Your incredible talent has been in you since you were in my belly, and the world is lucky to have you ready to go out and shine your light. I don’t know if I will ever adjust to not hearing you sing in the kitchen and dance with your siblings everyday. But we aren’t there yet so, baby steps. Thank you for growing with me and letting me guide you the best way I knew how, leading with love but sometimes figuring it out as we went. I am so proud of you and everything you are and I can’t wait to see the woman you now will become. I love you miss Malu. My little mermaid 🧜♀️
There is something special about making friends in your late teens or early twenties… beyond the fun blurry nights you have the beauty of witnessing each other navigate life. They know who you are and what you’ve been through, they understand how you got to where you are today. Since I moved back to Canada a decade ago, a lot of my friends have also left LA to raise their kids… and some are no longer with us 💔 Still a few remain, (can’t believe we didn’t get photos), and going back to them is really like going home. (I had never gone five years without visiting LA, but a pandemic and having two babies made time pass me by). So, all of this to say… If you’ve moved away from a city that holds memories on every street corner, it can be beautiful but heartbreaking to go there again. And if you have chapters and chapters of your life that feel like a different book altogether (like I do), just a reminder to not be afraid to revisit and honour the ones that are long behind you. They still hold some magic, even if it makes your heart ache just a bit. ♥️

Back zipper of my dress broke as I was walking into a party tonight. Thank god for my long jacket and low body temperature 🙃

Happy International Women’s Day from me before braces. 😁 Last week I cited a “strong woman” and my husband said, “I think all women are strong”. We truly are. I just want us all to know it. 😘 Let’s continue to fight for Women’s rights, Women’s health, be cheerleaders for each other, stand up for ourselves and strong examples for our daughters! 💕🌸💕 #womenshealth #internationalwomensday @jamesneate
Did you know only 8% of funding goes toward women’s health? ✨💕 Had a lovely afternoon with my @wylieoddo at the @bcwomensfdn Illuminations luncheon! Hearing about new initiatives in women’s health and new groundbreaking research for causes like ovarian cancer, vulva disorders, triple negative breast cancer, and postpartum pelvic floor issues was incredibly moving. ✨The huge news this past weeks about financial support with IVF and free contraceptive is massive and made in part by doctors such as Dr. Gina Ogilvie, Dr. Gillian Hanley and Dr. Wendy Norman. Their dedication to women’s health is nothing less than inspiring!! 💕🙌💕 #womenshealth #bcwomenshospital #cancerresearch #womensupportingwomen #transformwomenshealth

I don’t know who needs to hear this but this is your sign to book that drs appt, or massage or facial, or do that exercise or meditation. 🧘♀️ Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish… it’s actually better for your family and those who you care about if you DO take the time to care for yourself. Engaging in a self-care routine has been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, increase happiness, and more. It can help you adapt to changes, build strong relationships, and recover from setbacks. In a national survey, Americans cited benefits of self-care as: enhanced self-confidence (64%), increased productivity (67%), happiness (71%). From a physical health perspective, self-care also reduces heart disease, stroke and cancer. #selfcare #womenshealth #menshealth #healthylifestyle #momlife
