Dr. Contessa Metcalfe Instagram – Look what I found?!! Circa 2005 🇺🇸Happy Veteran’s Day!

⚓️Women represent approximately 20% of commissioned officers in the United States military
⚓️Black aviators make up about 2% of the Navy
⚓️Black doctors in the military- the numbers are so small I can’t find an accurate statistic

…Less than 6% of all US physicians are black.

To be clear- my opportunities came on the backs of black sailors and soldiers who fought (and died) so I could serve- and I am grateful for their sacrifice and thankful for their service.
