Emilie Cocquerel Instagram – 32. Every year is a jump. But this one kicks. This year I drove across the entirety of Australia twice. Once solo. I learnt that friendships without conditions are like oxygen. They’re fundamental to existence. Realized you can get used to anything, so be deliberate in your choices. Like playing music in front of people. Therapy and meditation are the frontline defenses, not medication. A mid-day dance off with Liz in the kitchen is never time wasted. Needing and being needed is fab. You have to be as willing to be kind to yourself, as you are to others or it doesn’t count. It depletes. And that we are mostly, if not entirely, made up of stories. Our job is to challenge each one to the death if they would like to remain. Actual magic lies here.

This time last year I was sick & asleep on a couch in Perth. And here I am, back in Europe writing from secret Giardinos somewhere in Tuscany and hugging tight old friends in Southbank, nestled in contented silence from a last minute decision. Change is the one thing we can bet on.
