I visited Melkadida in Ethiopia last year and saw the devastating impacts of climate change on refugees and their host communities. Since then, the situation has gotten worse. More than ever, affected populations need our support to meet their basic needs and adapt to a changing climate.
During my visit, I was met with devastation and heartbreak. Yet, I was also filled with hope. The work led by UNHCR Ethiopia colleagues and partners to help communities adapt to the climate emergency makes a difference. In Melkadida, UNHCR is supporting climate-smart agriculture, sustainable water supply and food production, and clean energy solutions.

To match that with seeing the cast of @thecolorpurple a masterpiece originally brought to life by my favorite dreamer, @quincyjones, was surreal. Witnessing the ongoing legacy of legends like Quincy, Sidney, Harry, and Tina, all honored through Oprah’s enduring passion and commitment, is truly a blessing.
