Trudie Styler Instagram – This week for #femalefilmmakerfriday, I’m highlighting @emma.westenburg for her debut feature film #BleedingLoveMovie! Emma trained at Rietveld Academy and the Cooper Union School of Art in NYC, where she developed her style of blending classic visual tropes, fashion, and fine art influences into her work. Her ability to shoot critically acclaimed, style-centric content, while remaining accessible to a diverse audience has made her a go-to director for musical artists, fashion labels, and globally recognized brands alike. In 2016, Emma was awarded Best New Fashion Film for ‘Blue and You’ at the Fashion Film Festival in Milan, and her work on Janelle Monet’s “Pynk” landed a Grammy nomination for Best Music Video in 2018. Her debut feature, Bleeding Love, centres around a father who secretly drives his estranged daughter to rehab after she overdoses, aware that she has inherited his addiction problems, and after he has started a new family elsewhere. Along the way they meet all types of strangers, as their strained relationship is put to the test. Congratulations on your first feature Emma!
