Adam Shankman Instagram – 10 years ago my life was falling apart.
10 years ago I was hiding and isolating
10 years ago what was once fun, was no longer fun: it was killing me.
10 years ago I looked so bad I shocked myself when I saw myself in a mirror.
10 years ago I was living the same useless stagnant night over and over again.
10 years ago my how was virtually extinguished.
And 10 years ago, I chose to live.
10 years ago I sought help because I didn’t want to fade into nothingness and die a waste.
10 years ago I found love in a community of people who just wanted to do better. To be better. To create and thrive.
10 years ago I started to respect myself and found love and compassion.
10 years ago I stopped feeling shame, having secrets, losing days, and making excuses.
10 years I weirdly did find love in a hopeless place: in me.
To all who helped me find my life again, thank you.
Here’s to being fun again, and working to fill the world with joy best I can by being the best I can be. Here’s to many more 10s, 10s, 10s across the board 🙂
