Jon Simonassi Instagram – Being a creator can be incredibly lonely, can you relate?

If you’re like me you

EDIT

DELIVER/UPLOAD in solitude

I think that’s why we so intrinsically feel the need for validation of our work. It’s not the best habit and I’m aware of it but as soon as I finish an edit I immediately want to show everyone I know, part of that is healthy in terms of showcasing something I’m proud of.

But the other half is needing validation that I am skilled and valuable, and that I didn’t make a disastrous mistake when choosing this as my career path.

So how does this relate to the above photo set?

I attended @RobAnzit’s #SigmaCreativeSpaces event recently and was reminded how important community and collaboration is to every creator’s reality.

While many aspects of creativity are inherently lonesome by nature, the experience itself doesn’t have to be one in your own echo chamber.

I’m trying to surround myself with more local creators, to work in co-op spaces, to hire more talented people to assist my efforts.

The dangers of being both introverted and a perfectionist means that collaboration without micro-managing is not easy for me, but I’m aware of this and always strive to be better every day.

So what am I trying to say here?

🎤 GO TO EVENTS

👯‍♀️ COLLABORATE WITH YOUR FRIENDS

🤝 COLLABORATE WITH HUMANS YOU’VE NEVER MET

👋 GO WORK AROUND OTHER CREATORS

🤔 ASK FOR FEEDBACK, SHARE WORK WITH YOUR CIRCLE

I’m basically shouting this to myself as a reminder, and maybe it’ll be a good reminder for you too.

Thanks for reading, as always 🎬💙

📸 Photos by my new friend whom I met at this very event, @captured_by_thea_photography (see her in the last frame), thanks for approaching me and being part of the important reminder of getting out there.
