memory) of all Rachmaninoff, from his first composition, Piano Concerto No 1, which he wrote at age 17, to Piano Concerto No 4, which he revised right up until his death in 1943. Yuja, wearing five different sequined mini dresses and 8-inch stilettos, gave us the greatest performance of my lifetime. She is a genius and a virtuoso, but that never comes before the music, which rises like dawn herself from her otherworldly musical soul. At the end of this historic marathon, Yannick fell to the stage floor and prostrated before her.
