Alexandra Munroe Instagram – Thrilled to announce the opening of “Yu Hong: Another One Bites the Dust” at the Chiesetta della Misericordia on April 20, in conjunction with the 60th Venice Bienniale. This site-specific installation presents an epic suite of paintings by Yu Hong that spans the arc of birth, life, and death, using images of figures ripped from the Internet, in gestures of pain both real and fantastical. The project is a special off-site program of the Guggenheim’s Asian Art Initiative and is presented by the Asian Art Circle, and made possible with the generous support of Lisson. The catalogue features contributions by Pio Monte della Misericordia curator Loredana Gazzara; artist Michael Armitage; and composer Nico Muhly, who is creating an immersive soundscape premiering June 2 in Venice.
