I think the real and more powerful opportunity is we need cisgender straight people to understand that they’re just like us in the sense of we’re all failed by these restrictive notions of who we should be. There is no perfect portrait anymore of this cis straight man and woman couple with their two and a half kids and this kind of #AmericanDream. That doesn’t really exist. I mean, you see it in the increased divorce rates. You see it in this ire between men, #cisgender men and cisgender women. And a lot of this is about their insecurities around their identities and who they’re supposed to be in this world because they’re trying to fit this script that we shredded up a while ago.
