Today, a judge at the Criminal Court warned Sepideh that she could be facing more charges if she continues to appear in court without a hijab. This comes while she is already serving a two-year sentence under the charge of “insulting” the unelected “supreme leader” of the country.
This new trial, occurring within the confines of her imprisonment, revolves around Sepideh’s accusation against a state TV reporter, alleging the reporter’s involvement with the state security apparatus.
The session concluded with Qoliyan spitting at her accuser.
Prior to the trial, she had made a resolute declaration that she would not participate in “the show court of the Islamic Republic,” drawing attention to the reality that trials involving individuals targeted by the state for political reasons in Iran are devoid of any semblance of due process.
