I’m in awe to be here, in this season of life, with a person by my side who has grown my capacity to love and be loved. Her compassion, humor and care are gifts I am grateful to receive every day. Found this wonderful memory of my family’s trip to #DisneyWorld in 1996 all because of #makeawish. My mother, father, aunt, uncle and I were able to stay at the whimsical Give Kids the World Village(@gktwvillage) and we had the time of our lives. After years of chemo, treatments, procedures and surgeries we were able to create incredible memories outside of the hospital. It is programs like @makeawishhawaii, @gktwvillage & @campanuenue that provide young survivors and their families outlets and escapes to experience the peaks that life has to offer. #cancerinparadise #survivor #childhoodcancer

While we hoped COVID would have been a thing of the past by now, it’s not! Masking up is still a great way to stop the spread and help to protect vulnerable populations like our camp kids! Kuleana is a uniquely Hawaiian value and practice which is loosely translated to mean “responsibility”. The word kuleana refers to a reciprocal relationship between the person who is responsible, and the thing which they are responsible for. There’s no “your kuleana” when it comes to public health. @campanuenue 2021 was a wonderful, joyous success, and the children were ecstatic to be able to attend! The fact that we were able to hold in-person Camp this year, without incident, was a testament to our commitment to safety & the effectiveness of our protocols (masks, vaccines & social distancing).
