I believe there is art in helming the care of another creature. Truth is, I try to find the artistry in everything I do. I started professionally acting at the age of 11 years old and that’s pretty much all I did right up until the pandemic. My life looks differently than maybe I’d expected it to; I’m sure that’s true for all of us. The past four years have been about seeking what artistry even means to me and sitting with why acting called my name. I’m very curious by nature and have the desire to experience so many things in this life — that’s one of the things I love about acting. It allows me to actively put myself in other people’s shoes and unlock worlds of experience. It wakes up my imagination and asks me to dig a little deeper and call forth a new understanding. A new life force then emerges — the one required to experience a very specific set of circumstances dictated by the writer. Actors breathe life into story. ✨
I used to feel embarrassed when I wasn’t working; I felt that if I wasn’t on set that I had failed as an artist. I’m now seeing that I can take all that I’ve learned and deepen it through every aspect of my life. I now do not believe that the only way to sharpen one’s artistry is through “the arts”. I can feel these thoroughbreds sharpening my artistry in a way I could’ve never imagined. They’ll teach you stillness, they’ll teach you what it means to be embodied, they’ll teach you how to be grounded and present. I love the art of acting, I believe I will be an actor until the day I leave this planet. I wonder — what else am I? What more can I learn? This platform is a little peek into my journey.
