It’s not big exciting jumps but this was a huge moment for us on an especially spooky and electric day. For those of you that have been following our journey for a while you know what a spicy Remington normally looks like. Just before this video started rolling he had a couple of big spooks and at the top I say to our trainer that I may have to bring him back down to a walk to get him back in his body and listening to me. Instead @elisabethhowerofficial gave me a goal to allow him to move through the tension he’s feeling without adding any more tension from me. Much easier said than done when you have a spicy Remington moving underneath you. When this horse is already feeling hot and bothered the worst thing I could do is add more tension to his experience — it only elevates him more and more and clouds his understanding of what is being asked. I am really proud of how stable, calm, and light I was able to be even though he was feeling the complete opposite. My ability to regulate my nervous system and physical body led him back to his own body, back to me, back to the exercise, and kept us both safe. 😊👊🏼
