Earlier this week, the Aftermath Foundation, which does vital work to help people get out of Scientology, put up a billboard next to Scientology’s largest base in LA. Los Angeles is where thousands of Scientology Sea Org members (workforce) are abused and held as indentured servants to this totalitarian cult. Within hours of the billboard going up, Scientology officials placed this cherry picker and lift in front of it. That’s what you can see in the second slide of this post. The base was closed, so Sea Org members wouldn’t see the billboard as they walked to and from different buildings. Now, just two days after the billboard went up, @clearchanneloutdoor has taken the billboard down after facing threats and pressure tactics from Scientology. They’ve done this even though @theaftermathfoundation had a one-year contract for the billboard. This billboard simply offered a safe exit opportunity to Scientologists who wished to leave. It’s not a problematic billboard by the definition of any reasonable person. But of course Scientology takes issue with it. Taking this billboard down is unacceptable and just another example of a major corporation caving to a dangerous totalitarian cult that is abusing its members daily as a matter of policy. Unlike Clear Channel Outdoor, the Aftermath Foundation will not back down in the face of harassment.
