25 years ago today, 12 students and one teacher were shot and killed at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Another 21 people were wounded in the shooting.
For the generation of young people who have grown up since, gun violence is still their reality. It’s beyond time we change that. As we remember the lives lost and those forever changed at Columbine, we recommit to making our communities safer for this generation and the next.

VOTE THEM OUT!!! What happened today my home state of Tennessee is an absolute abomination and it breaks my heart that the super majority of elected officials won’t listen to the people who overwhelmingly want #GUNSENSE!! They have now passed a law to allow teachers to be armed. I have so many questions! But here is what we know… there is ZERO protocol in place for this, the SROs don’t want this, this makes it more difficult for the trained police to respond to a shooter call, this makes it easier for a kid to get a gun in their hands, this makes our teachers the first responders ( a ton of responsibility for our teachers who have to pay for their own school supplies.)
My questions: what happens when that teacher gives a kid a bad grade and they know there is a gun in the class? What happens when the shooter is in the hallway? Does the teacher have to leave their students to give chase? What happens when it’s a student and the teacher has to shoot their own student? What happens when they are supposed to be locking the door and pulling the security curtain and getting them into a safe corner but instead are fumbling for the weapon? What happens when they have a shoot out and kill one of the children by accident? What happens when the shooter has an AR-15 and the teacher has a handgun? Uvalde proved that even the most trained are afraid of those weapons and won’t go after the shooter? 18% is the accuracy of a trained officer when being fired on, what will a teachers accuracy be? This is the most dangerous legislation I have ever heard when it comes to the lives of our youngest and most vulnerable citizens. The research proves this is not a solution that makes our schools safer! Disappointed and disgusted!

My heart today is with the Covenant School children and staff and parents as they take the big step of heading back into their school where so much heartbreak and pain took place just over a year ago. Praying for PEACE in everyone’s hearts today as they navigate the new reality of being in the building that caused so much trauma. May they feel God’s love and strength, and may it multiply and grow from the hearts of those in that church on the hill. May that LIGHT pour out of them and onto the healing community all around the city of Nashville and beyond. 🌈 #CovenantStrong @covenantbrightertomorrows

Friends and family and faith and film = fun! What a night celebrating @unsungheromovie premiere in Nashville. Surrounded by some of the brightest stars in Christian music and pastors like @joelosteen @anniefdowns. Supporting my sister in law @sallyalexandra and dear friend @anna_redmon who both helped bring the 90’s costumes come to life. @candacecbure did a fabulous job not only acting but producting this movie along with my pals at @kingdomstorycompany. Had the opportunity to introduce my mother-in-law to her favorite Christmas stars @jen_lilley and @danicamckellar. The movies follows the Smallbone family from Australia to the US as they struggle to make their dreams a reality on their way to stardom for @rebeccast.james and eventually @forkingandcountry. It’s a beautiful story about how family can survive anything when they believe in each other. Don’t miss it on the big screen April 26th!
