Spent an unexpected day in London with these lovely friends. Surprised to find @patriciaheaton and her friend Laura in town, called up an old Connecticut friend Steph and ran into @rachellelefevre on the plane. What a fun group and wonderful day. 6 moms 10 kids x 6 tiny houses (@petite.retreats) at @thousandtrails in #NatchezTrace = HAPPY CAMPERS! We held kids #Olympics to celebrate the opening ceremonies we were missing and plenty of S’mores. We love this tradition during the summer because there are only #100DayspfCamping between Memorial Day and Labor Day to get outside and get unplugged.
We had FUN,FUN FUN in the sun when my daddy dropped us off by boat at #FireIsland for some girl time. Bikes, Lobster rolls, and RocketFuels (Iykyk) for breakfast and add surf, sand and sunsets for perfection!
One of my very bestest of friends lost her father today. And one of my other very bestest friends wrote a touching eulogy for him that I wanted to share so that Mr Engleman’s legacy could continue to delight people who don’t always know the people responsible for making the magic happen behind the camera. I love you Kimi and thank you for sharing your father and all his talents with the world@ and thank you @kruegermekash for these words and reminding us of his accolades and gifts. ・・・ I am sad to announce that my best friend Kim Engelman’s father and Jennifer Zide’s stepfather Leonard Engelman has passed away after a short illness. He was 83. His incredibly long and illustrious career began in the internship at Universal Studios. He was youngest makeup artist to be nominated for an Emmy with John Chamber’s for “Night Gallery-Pickman’s Monster”. He was a Make-up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Award winner as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award Winner. He has served as the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch governor and a Vice President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the former director of education at Cinema Makeup School in Los Angeles. He was IASTE Local 706 Business Representative in between all of these amazing achievements. His work spans film, television, commercials, music videos and editorial. His celebrity clients include Cher (Moonstruck, Burlesque), Michelle Pfeiffer (The Witches of Eastwick), Meg Ryan (Sleepless in Seattle) and Julie Andrews (The Princess Diaries). He has also worked with Val Kilmer (Heat), Chris O’Donnell (Batman & Robin) and Sylvester Stallone (Rambo, Rocky IV). He was instrumental in getting the name of the AMPAS Makeup Artist branch changed to the Makeup Artist and Hairstylists branch and created the very popular symposium held before the Oscars. His brilliance will be sorely missed by everyone.
How do I love thee, let me count the ways: I love you when you play pest control in my house, when you work on your ugly sweater for days on end to win the night, when you travel with me near and far, when you take naps on the beach next to me, when you sign along to Billy Joel even if you don’t know the words, the way you laugh, the way you are vulnerable, the way you story top and the way you are a forever friend to me! 13th annual #UglySweater party is in the books and it was a rowdy one to say the least with some of my nicest and naughtiest pals in Nashville. The yummy drinks were flowing, the laughs were straight from the belly and the sweaters were ugly (well more like silly!)
