Monica Beverly Hillz Instagram – This past weekend, members of our Transformations’ national advisory board, including Donato Fatuesi, Monica DeJesus Anaya, Amariah Hardwick, Kendall Martinez-Wright, and our Executive Director Merrique Jenson, had a unique chance to participate in the International Trans Day of Visibility, falling on March 31st every year.

We attended the Transform the Vote rally hosted in Washington D.C., organized by Trans Equality and featuring dynamic speakers, such as our sisters Angelica Ross, Andrea Jenkins, and Hope Giselle, who grounded us all with their wisdom. We also participated in the evening gathering to connect with our trans siblings and other leaders on the ground.

We recognize the continued obstacles in place for trans people, in particular trans communities of color, to engage in voting registration and the voting process. And we also recognize how critical this year will be in counting all of our voices within the flawed legislative systems we currently have to make an impact in ensuring trans rights for all.
We truly appreciate the dynamic leadership of Sybastian Smith, Alex del Rosario, Josie Caballero, Leroy Thomas, Telka Taylor, Devon Ojeda, and all the dynamic organizers involved with the National Center for Trans Equality working with our Transformations family.
One of our sisters was assaulted and experienced violence this weekend at the evening event organized by a separate organization and leadership, and we also deeply appreciate the support and aftercare @transequalitynow had shown us as we navigate this horrific experience and hold those who harmed our sister accountable with intentional transformative justice practices.
