Quinn Brett Instagram – #tbt to a time when all of my body parts were listening to the intricate demands in the nuance of time.

Spinal cord injury is like an electrical black out to a city. Signal loss. Depending on the damage, one neighborhood can go out (movement below the knees) or a different neighborhood can go out (sensation to the left side of the body). Or maybe many neighborhoods have flicker lights and a combination of these symptoms.

That to say, no two spinal cord injury are exactly alike. I miss the body and the ability in this picture.

MORE IMPORTANT, as conversations with two good friends @rolo_garibotti and the late Tom Hornbein remind me, our bodies are of diminishing ability.

The presence we have now for life, for love, for community, for self IS because of past experiences. The good ones— the freedom. The hard times, the forced learning, wiggling away from trauma towards an elevated more whole self. More-so the realization that the good times, the laughter and joy and sorrow and longing are forever fleeting.

Yesterday was a gift, what did we learn! Today how are we working to appreciate that gift? These are the good ‘ol days. #now #love #gratitude
