Every day, every moment, we get to make a new choice, to shift the sails on our personal ship. What’s your current destination? Have you put in specific coordinates, or are you drifting? Nothing wrong with drifting if that’s your intention. Sometimes you need to stop doing, and just appreciate the float. Other times though, neglecting to be more deliberate about your voyage can put you in hostile waters, tossed around in bad weather, vulnerable to unknown creatures and rough seas.
The encouraging thing about this voyage is the opportunity to still choose. Where do you want to go now? What new course can reposition the sails?
Resurrection day is a reminder of these beautiful choices. A lighthouse indicating that refuge and support is nearby. It’s inspiration that your direction and efforts can be resurrected too. Going from the drifter to the sea captain, not abandoning ship, but instead looking towards the horizon, rising again to the adventure ahead.
It’s a chance to renew. A day that celebrates not just historical or spiritual rebirth, but also the potential for personal revival and transformation. It encourages us to take the helm with buoyed faith in ourselves and our journey.
Ships use a magnetic compass, along with other instruments to steer the journey ahead. Through more intentional direction and deliberate action, we become like that compass, drawing us in to the very shore we’ve been curious about all along.
