Rhona Bennett Instagram – The part of yourself that you’re resisting, attempting to throw away, choosing to block out—could also be the part that you need to explore.
You may have heard the age-old quote, “what you resist persists.” The more you push it away, the more it leans in to you.
However, the second you embrace it, allow it to exist, and become aware of why it’s there… a floodgate of revelation can come gushing through. Maybe it will show you a uniqueness about yourself; another place in you where there’s value.
Could it lead to more healing and growth if you stop running from the thing that’s keeping pace with you?
In the video’s case, it’s anger that the little girl wants to get rid of. You may be challenged in the same way. Or maybe it’s a snort, screechy laugh, or your weight.
What if your snort became a signature sound for a television character; or got incorporated into your company branding in some way?
What if that screechy laugh turns out to be ‘voice over’ heaven…where you become a unique hire for your unique sound?
What if your weight is really posing as a protective layer to the pain you’ve been hiding, and it’s doing its’ best to give you some form of a healthy boundary since you’ve been challenged in choosing boundaries for yourself?
Negative emotions and insecurities can still serve a great purpose. They are indicators that something is out of alignment and it’s pointing to an opportunity to fix it; to grow beyond it, to learn from it, to face it, to heal it.
Some of us have learned to called this aspect of self, ‘the shadow’. Today, I’m calling it our onion.
March 26th and 27th is fast approaching… Is it time to peel back more of your onion to see what’s there? Could whatever you discover be in the way of your progress? Could you be sitting on a goldmine of uniqueness that could take your artistry, business, or yourself, to the next level?
