Widening participation, a phrase I’ve only just heard this week, despite it underpinning absolutely everything I do.. Widening participation aims to support and encourage students whose personal circumstances put them at a disadvantage when pursuing higher education. Universities and colleges offer dedicated scholarships, grants, and bursaries as part of this. Visited the @bromptonbicycle factory in Greenford yesterday… 70 engineers (6 females) churning out 93000 bikes a year from London! They are pricey, but oh so well made! 🚲 Thanks to the Institution of Engineering Designers for arranging the visit! 🚲🚲 apologies for the rubbish captioning and sound quality. 🚲🚲 when I talk about Pounds, I mean 💷 (British Pounds £)
I grabbed a few moments to check out the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern to see the @elanatsui_art installations… I love taking time out for art, it resets me, especially with all the discussions about #equity #diversity and #inclusion in #stem, which are very personal and vulnerable topics for me, quite frankly. It’s refreshing to take #inspiration from #art to see how it can often magically unite people, through unspoken words of #creativity #history and #resonance … @tate #steam
